FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL: Valdis is gorgeous in an almost inhuman way. Fair skin, green eyes and dark brown/black hair. She has a winning smile and not a wrinkle or scar to be seen.
AURAL: Her voice sounds like FemShep from Mass Effect.
OLFACTORY: She usually smells flowery like roses, or whatever might be attractive or disarming to an individual.
DEMEANOUR: Valdis is charismatic, confident and prideful, but can also be sensitive, gentle and kind. If she is angered this may or may not show clearly due to her great control over how she visibly reacts to things.

Opt-Outs and Opt-ins

EMPATHY: Opt-out. Valdis is an empath. This is not something she can control at will, but is less potent in certain game settings. Due to the nature of this power it is an opt-out and there are some characters that have abilities that can block this. Just let me know.
DEATH MAGIC: Opt-in. Valdis can use her necromancy to drain souls/life force/energy, whatever you want to call it. She will only do this to player characters with OOC discussion and permission and generally uses it as a last resort.
TELEPATHY: Opt-out. Valdis can project her voice into the minds of others, usually only as a Hound to make communication easier. Characters can communicate with her through thinking what they want to say. It's generally harmless and not like mind reading.
SUPERNATURAL SENSES: Valdis has supernatural senses that come with some questions:

He makes me want to breathe life again and when we are together everything seems so much lighter. He brings out a softness in me that I thought I had left behind, but I don't care. He loves me and I love him too. He’s kind, he bakes, he wants nothing more than to make me happy and to be happy. The hand he was dealt was so unfair and he’s too good for me. I love him so much it hurts. He makes me both weak and powerful at the same time, something I never thought possible. I would give him the world if he asked for it, and…I would destroy it if I lost him. It scares me, but I am too happy to let that take control.

Fever and I have drawn closer since coming to Marrow Isle. I can’t quite explain it, but I feel drawn to her chaos, though not in a bad way I don’t think, and not really romantically either, just a kinship through shared experiences. She manages her emotions better than I, likely due to accepting them whereas I still try to fight them off. She’s an amazing sparring partner, I don’t ever have to worry about her, though I would genuinely hate to fight her as an enemy, her simmering power could cause great harm to even someone like myself. Yet, I don’t think she ever would. In fact, she has done nothing but love and worry after me since we broke down the walls together. Sometimes it’s frustrating, I know she still holds so much hatred for her past self, I just don’t know how much it bleeds into the present.

I would defend him if necessary, and I will never stop teasing him for his shortcomings, but I do see how much he has changed and how much he wants to put his own past behind him. The mysterious and ill reputed leader of the Occularum, though I don’t find him so mysterious or of ill repute. He seems smart, if a little cocky, but also sincere. I can both see why he annoys people and why people listen to him. He teaches magic to others, which seems interesting, and powerful,I wouldn’t want to get on his bad side, but he seems mostly non-violent. He seeks answers above all else and seems to think he’s the only one who can get them. His dream powers are a little concerning, but I am curious about them, it’s almost worth the risk of trying.

I never believed I would find him again, and yet, it’s not him. Miles is his own person, but I can no longer deny my love for him. He is his own person, but I see bits of Malachi in him. It’s confusing and difficult, but I want it to be for him, so perhaps that’s the real first step.

Sheo is mad. There’s no other way to describe him, but I find myself not caring that his profound madness is mixed with wisdom. I love our conversations. They can be deep or shallow, but I always come away feeling more at peace. That serenity can be found in the depths of insanity is so foreign and truly makes me rethink the norms everyone believes are important. Or maybe it’s simply that we need to abandon the pageantry we all so desperately cling to. Sometimes one needs to scream to find peace. If only my father had believed more in life than in image.

Elsie is so incredibly kind, I care for her, so much more than I expected. I once thought that she would prove useful to me, but now I care less about that and more for her happiness. I want to do anything I can to reunite her with her mother and father, even if the latter scares me a little. I haven’t met the fae and I don’t know much of them except from stories and who knows how similar these fae are to those ones. Still, the stories must come from somewhere. Nonetheless, I doubt Elsie will let her father hurt any of her friends, especially those who would protect her at the cost of their safety.

His soft and elegant nature hides no small amount of power. I can’t imagine what it is like to have left loved ones behind, but I can feel it in him just as much as the others here. His patience and kindness make me want to meet those who loved him, to know what kind of people they were. Still, we must exist in the here and now and I trust him with my back in a way I don’t with others. I don’t know much of his past, but I know as a cultivator it wasn’t peaceful. If I had to describe him, he is closer to the idea of a chivalrous knight than any man who claims to be one, balancing kindness and fierceness in a way only he can. There is never any sort of expectation with him, it feels so natural for us to fall into step together, I don’t know why…maybe we just have the same drive to protect others using the power given to us.

She hides everything under a stern and aloof exterior, but as an empath, I see beyond the image she tries to portray. I see the walls coming down, fighting side by side against the outbreak of undead has shown us both new sides of each other. Erin is strange, but she insists on being kind. It's certainly becoming complicated. We've decided that honesty is the best policy and in that vein, I've never met someone blind who can see me so clearly. It's highly annoying. I can't get away with anything when I'm around her. But our relationship keeps growing more complicated. She can be so childish one moment and then sincere the next. But she's just so kind and doesn't seem to care if I can never return her feelings, she just wants to be there for me anyway. But I do. In a different way.

Unless the evil in my world is far worse than his. He's also horribly annoying and drives me crazy. But I'm learning things, things he may wish I never found out. But at the same time, our relationship is moving in a strange direction. He's starting to feel more like family than anything else. Only family can push buttons the way he can. He has grown a little more mellow now that he knows where we stand with each other. I appreciate that.

Ava shows great spirit, she seems like a sweet girl who has had a rough life. I feel as if I can empathize with her in some way, like she was also a weapon to someone. No one should ever have to be used. She may be human, but she is also more than that. She has powers, but that's not what defines her. Her resolve is strong, I have no doubt she will hold fast to what she believes. Her life is tied to this place and I'm afraid that others on the ship won't care. But I can't let them stop her from living in peace. This means we must find a new way. She deserves so much more than the hand fate dealt to her. I seem to have achieved her trust, something that is dear to me.

We get along like cats and wolves. Which is to say, only sometimes. Two apex predators can rarely be friends, and we most certainly are not. But we are not enemies either. We acknowledge each other’s strengths and he does seem to care in his own strange way. I suppose I do too. But his mother concerns me. He says she is not a threat, but I highly doubt that is really the case. Even so, I do trust him to have my back if necessary.

I wish she could see more than just her own world, but I still want to protect her.

He is not what I expected, though he always had an edge to him. He is quite unstable. So much so that he can actually affect me on his own. Dangerous in some ways, pathetic in others. He’s essentially a lost cause, I don’t know what Crichton ever saw in him. John deserves better and it’s only because of Crichton that I didn’t kill him. Still, he at least knows to not mess with me and hopefully he will leave Crichton alone.

I can’t say he doesn’t have trauma, but he has accepted what trauma he has seen and embraced who he is. Or at least he is trying to. He has a sort of honor about him, a mature and easygoing honor that I am drawn to. I can’t say I don’t want more, because I do. I do want more. What he did when Tiamat was here…I hate him for it, but that’s just because he means something to me. I can’t go through that again.

Valdis is a very proud individual. Her pride is not unwarranted as her intelligence, wit, strength and beauty make living in the human world fairly easy, if distasteful. She is a master manipulator of men and women alike, twisting circumstances to her favor and skillfully getting out of the ones she cannot. Should charm fail, she is quite capable of fighting her way out of pretty much any situation. She can debate and lie with the best, or worst, of them flitting her way through society and changing her identity every decade.

Valdis seeks out places with many people and emotions, like cities and large towns. It’s easier to balance herself in noise than in silence. At least, as long as that noise hits different emotions and not a singular one. Too many matching emotions can cause her emotional state to regress into whatever emotion the rest are feeling and can be overwhelming. But there’s another reason she seeks out noise, the silence allows the Void to speak to her and its voice is corruptive, seducing and dark.

She tends to protect herself above all others, but her angel’s soul feels for humanity and her past as a creature of pure destruction and chaos fights with her present desire to just survive, especially when she feels hunted by those who made her. She is not trusting, nor does she purposefully act outside of her own interest. But she feels driven to protect and help others, even if she dislikes humanity, it’s what led her to become a detective and solve murders.

She is jealous of humanity’s ability to dream as she herself cannot. The Creators being willing to forgive them, but condemn her brings much anger and dislike to her mind when she interacts with humans, but can usually keep these feelings from showing. Usually.

APPEARANCE

Her powers allowed her to take a form that would be described as beautiful by most men. In her human form, Valdis stands at 5'7”;. Her long, wavy hair is the color of raven feathers, a dark contrast to her fair skin. Her eyes normally appear emerald green, but may shift to a deep blood red. Her intended PB is Jaimie Alexander.

As a hound, Valdis stands about 17 hands (5'7") at the shoulder, has thick raven colored fur and green eyes than may shift to red if angered. Though called a hound, her form more closely resembles that of a wolf, but perhaps a little more streamlined.

ABILITIES & SKILLS

Necromancy

Valdis can kill through touching the soul of another either through touch, or by spreading her awareness and touching multiple souls at once. Though it can be used in a lethal manner, she usually only takes small amounts of soul energy, which can leave a person tired.

Immortality

Valdis is immortal, but she can be killed. If she is killed, she can self revive using soul energy stored within the Void. When a game has other rules or "taxes" regarding death, these rules take priority over Canon mechanics.

Empathy

Valdis is an empath, meaning she can feel the emotions of those around her. If she has tasted a soul more than once, or tasted enough of one, she can even sense the emotions of that person from a distance.

Self Healing

Valdis can heal from any wound, even lethal ones.

Shapeshifting

Valdis can shift, painfully, into a giant (Think a medium sized horse), black wolf with red or green eyes depending on her mood.

Soul Energy

Valdis can draw on extra soul energy to temporarily enhance her senses, speed and strength beyond their normal amounts, but doing so runs the risk of the Void's influence slipping through.

Soul Sight

Valdis can shift her sight into the realm of souls and is capable of seeing the colors of souls.

Soul Sense

Valdis can sense souls and their auras as they approach or move around an area.

HISTORY

Valdis was once a fledgling Angel of Death named Meira. Being an angel of death, she was outcast and shunned by all but her brother Michael. Eventually, after a fight with her Archangel Father, Raphael, she fled from home. Not much is known between that and her reappearance as the Queen of the Hellhounds, a race of vicious demonic dogs, several years later. Soulless and cruel, the pack set about causing mass disasters and casualties among the human race, answering to no one but their king and queen. Only seven ever appeared and who created them was unknown.

As the demons fought to bring the Hounds under their control, the angels had to answer the threat and came up with a way to stop the Hounds and seal them away. Michael, now an archangel, forged a sword using a piece of his soul, hoping it would have the power to strike down the unkillable hounds. He fought with Valdis in a terrible, earth shattering battle; first in human forms and then as an angel against the monstrous black hound. But Valdis faltered when Michael brought his blade to bear; she should have died. But the blade had other plans, the magic Michael had used to forge the divine blade read his true heart. Instead of destroying her, Valdis had her soul restored. Lost in the pain and emotions that came with having a soul, she fell into a deep slumber, hidden away by Michael. The Hounds, losing their path between the realms, became trapped in Purgatory.

Years passed and a sort of peace returned to the world, a balance between Heaven and Hell, but rumblings from Purgatory as the remaining hounds regained power led to Valdis’s awakening, many of her former memories sealed away, but her skills and abilities intact. For two hundred years she learned how to move among the humans, believed dead by all who had known her. Until the seal on purgatory began to break and Michael knew he had to find the only one who could seal it again. Adaptable and good at hiding among humans, she is not easy to find.

I recently learned that he has someone else inside his head too, this other person thinks I am quite the threat, this doesn't scare me, though maybe it shouls. Crichton is a good friend, and I trust him with things I don't trust to others. He's seen a lot and deserves to be cared for by the people around him. But Harvey is a problem, and now that we know he is around, well, I cannot trust Crichton the way I did before.

History: Valdis was once a fledgling Angel of Death named Meira. Being an angel of death, she was outcast and shunned by all but her brother Michael. Eventually, after a fight with her Archangel Father, Raphael, she fled from home. Not much is known between that and her reappearance as the Queen of the Hellhounds, a race of vicious demonic dogs, several years later. Soulless and cruel, the pack set about causing mass disasters and casualties among the human race, answering to no one but their king and queen. Only seven ever appeared and who created them was unknown.

As the demons fought to bring the Hounds under their control, the angels had to answer the threat and came up with a way to stop the Hounds and seal them away. Michael, now an archangel, forged a sword using a piece of his soul, hoping it would have the power to strike down the unkillable hounds. He fought with Valdis in a terrible, earth shattering battle; first in human forms and then as an angel against the monstrous black hound. But Valdis faltered when Michael brought his blade to bear; she should have died. But the blade had other plans, the magic Michael had used to forge the divine blade read his true heart. Instead of destroying her, Valdis had her soul restored. Lost in the pain and emotions that came with having a soul, she fell into a deep slumber, hidden away by Michael. The Hounds, losing their path between the realms, became trapped in Purgatory.

Years passed and a sort of peace returned to the world, a..balance between Heaven and Hell, but rumblings from Purgatory as the remaining hounds regained power led to Valdis’s awakening, many of her former memories sealed away, but her skills and abilities intact. For two hundred years she learned how to move among the humans, believed dead by all who had known her. Until the seal on purgatory began to break and Michael knew he had to find the only one who could seal it again. Adaptable and good at hiding among humans, she is not easy to find.

Valdis, as Regina Lawson, is a decorated detective in Los Angeles USA, using her empathetic skills and intelligence to track down the worst kind of humans. A new case has recently caught her attention, mostly because it seems to be the work of a serial killer...one whose work has shown up before, and who seems to be just as immortal as she is. Unable to find the perpetrator before he finds her, Valdis fights the archdemon Amos to a deadly draw. Upon revival, she struggles with memories of her past as an angel and as a creature of chaos. With her second awakening, the Void wakes as well and starts whispering to her. Realizing that the world is no longer safe for her, she fakes her own death and flees from LA. But not before a particular journalist steals something important from her and she has to steal it back.

Powers/Abilities:
Immortality: Valdis is immortal, while she can be killed, she will heal from a lethal injury and resurrect herself using life energy stolen from past victims (Nerfed)
Self healing: Valdis can heal from any minor/non lethal wound
Shapeshifting: Valdis can shift, painfully, into a giant (Think a medium sized horse), black wolf with red or green eyes depending on her mood.
Soul Walking: Valdis can walk within the essence of another, but loses consciousness within her own body and, if she stays too long, can become lost.(Nerfed)
Death Magic: Valdis can kill through touching the soul of another either through touch, or by spreading her awareness and touching multiple souls at once. (Nerfed unless the mods want to play with it)
Soul Sight: Valdis can see souls by moving her awareness into the Soul Plane, but everything else is in greyscale and only the souls are colorful (Nerfed)
Empathy: Valdis is an empath, meaning she can feel the emotions of those around her.
Telepathy: Valdis can speak telepathically while shifted into a hound.
Hyper senses: enhanced vision, hearing, smelling
Skills of a thousand years: Valdis is OLD, very old, as an immortal she knows many kinds of combat and a lot of history. She’s been to college, passed the Bar Exam at one point, can debate with the best of them and is not afraid to use her history of earth to her advantage. Of course...they are not ON earth
Speedy: Valdis is inhumanly fast when she wants to be.
Strong: Much stronger than a human
Soul Energy: Valdis can draw on extra soul energy to temporarily enhance her senses, speed and strength beyond their normal amounts, but doing so runs the risk of the Void's influence slipping through. (Only souls consumed in game (with permission) will give energy, no access to past souls)
The Void: The Void is a seven headed serpent possessing Valdis and is in constant hunt of her soul and those of others. Its presence corrupted her angelic death magic and is the result of a piece of the God of Destruction being artificially inflicted into a living vessel, in this case a fledgling angel named Meira. Valdis has three pieces of the God living inside of her, making her immensely powerful and dangerous. Or it would, but she possesses a Soul, which stops the Goddess Tiamat from being able to take full control. Her soul is protected by a powerful, unknown magic that prevents the Void from being able to devour it.(No access in Game)

Inventory: Vest, blouse, coat, LAPD badge, LAPD ID with the name Regina Lawson on it, latest iPhone, and the angelic sword Revelations (an angelic blade with a glowing red gem, capable of banishing darkness, can only be held by Valdis, it has a variety of effects on everyone else ranging from making them feel ill, to actually causing burns on their hands.)

Should charm fail, she is quite capable of fighting her way out of pretty much any situation. She can debate and lie with the best, or worst, of them flitting her way through society and changing her identity every decade.

Valdis seeks out places with many people and emotions, like cities and large towns. It’s easier to balance herself in noise than in silence. At least, as long as that noise hits different emotions and not a singular one. Too many matching emotions can cause her emotional state to regress into whatever emotion the rest are feeling and can be overwhelming. But there’s another reason she seeks out noise, the silence allows the Void to speak to her and its voice is corruptive, seducing and dark.

She tends to protect herself above all others, but her angel’s soul feels for humanity and her past as a creature of pure destruction and chaos fights with her present desire to just survive, especially when she feels hunted by those who made her. She is not trusting, nor does she purposefully act outside of her own interest. But she feels driven to protect and help others, even if she dislikes humanity, it’s what led her to become a detective and solve murders.

She is jealous of humanity’s ability to dream as she herself cannot. The Creators being willing to forgive them, but condemn her brings much anger and dislike to her mind when she interacts with humans, but can usually keep these feelings from showing. Usually.

Greatest Fear: Valdis’ greatest fear is that she will lose her soul to the Void and no longer be herself.

Greatest Desire: Her greatest desire is to be able to embrace dreams

HISTORY:
Valdis was once a fledgling angel named Meira. Raised by the archangel Raphael, Meira grew up without the knowledge that she was in actuality an Angel of Death, as her father sought to keep those abilities secret from her and the rest of the angelic community. She grew up with private tutors, her only company a fluffy white cat and her brother Michael. When Michael left, Meira grew frustrated with her father and fled from the safety of her home. She, along with five other fledglings were captured by the Archdemon, Lord Amos, and turned into Hellhounds. None of them possessed any memory of their lives before having their souls shattered.

Regaining her Soul
About 342 years ago, on the night of April 13th, a volcanic eruption occurred in Faial which was followed by five seismic waves causing a seismic crisis on the whole island. Though labeled a natural disaster, its cause was an immense battle between the Archangel Michael and the Hellhound Queen, Valdis, whose strength was considered equal, but as the devastation reached its climax, Michael struck Valdis down with the holy sword, Revelations, severing the bond between her and her pack. The Archangel was then forced into retreat as Hellhound reinforcements arrived upon the field of battle.

Though Valdis returned with her pack to the Underworld, the severing of her bond with them caused an unexpected side effect within the Queen. Valdis regained her soul and through it felt emotions previously foreign to her. In her confusion and fear, she killed two of her packmates as she fought to escape the underworld. Forced into a self-exile, Valdis was left to roam the human world alone, forever hiding from her pack, the angels and the demons. The Archangel Michael discovered the fallen queen and, realizing what had occurred, was unable to destroy her. He hid her from the Angelic Council and aided her in establishing a human identity.

Her time on the human world was spent hiding from her enemies, using her persuasive skills and beauty to her advantage. She spent time as a courtesan, working her way into the favor of powerful people so she could live safely and comfortably, but she never stayed in one place for long. Over time she travelled the world, gaining degrees in various fields such as history and law, working her way forward with the times. Currently she is a model and designer for a prominent fashion magazine in LA.

PERSONALITY:
Valdis is a high-strung individual whose first priority has always been herself. In her mind, she is still a queen and she sees herself as better than those she lives among, more beautiful and more intelligent than they could ever be. But she learned over the years that acting as such is not beneficial or helpful to her cause, so she has carefully constructed a persona for others to see. She usually presents herself as a kind, somewhat reserved woman with a light sense of humor, someone who is approachable and enjoys a good conversation. She will morph her persona's personality as she learns more about the people she is interacting with, something where her training as a courtesan has proved invaluable. Valdis can and will try to manipulate others, but even though she can easily win over those who find her attractive, some are more difficult to win over and others can eventually see right through her act. They may not know exactly what they dislike about Valdis, but they can tell that something is off about her. Occasionally Valdis has been known to stand up for others, but only when it is in line with what her persona would do as she view humans only as accessories and acquaintances whose purpose is to help her establish an identity.

Secrecy has been her greatest defense against her enemies and she guards herself carefully to avoid discovery. Hostility would be Valdis' first reactions to the knowledge that someone has guessed, or knows, her true identity, but unless pressed, Valdis will rarely resort to aggression, preferring to disengage from a situation and evaluate her position and that of her enemy. Despite her time among humans, many of her enemies would still hesitate to take her on, and she would be ready to prove that she still possessed power if they tried. She is not opposed to making threats to keep herself safe and can usually back up said threats with force if needed. She generally assumes that someone who knows her true identity is an enemy and usually doesn't believe them if they claim otherwise.

Because most of her interactions with others on her home world were carefully devised and her 'personality'; was often conditional, Valdis rarely showed her true nature. She is cold, calculating, manipulative, prideful to a fault and has an air of confidence that never seems to waver. One downfall is that she feels a deep-seated envy for the love and happiness that humans possess and share with each other. As her own soul was pure before being shattered, she has a vague memory of what happiness and love feel like, memories which gain strength when near Michael, but the corrupted energies of the consumed souls leave her unable to truly feel those positive emotions.

As a result, when she isn't hiding behind a persona, Valdis can be rather surly when dealing with others, especially if they have nothing to offer her. Her manipulative side tends to appear when she deduces someone's weaknesses and she takes great joy in using their flaws against them. Although she doesn't care much about the feelings of others, she doesn't want them to dislike her either, as such feelings could cause problems for her later, so she tries to be nice. Valdis is so confident in herself and her abilities that it would be difficult to injure her pride, but despite her ability to be patient, she becomes frustrated when people keep her waiting or ignore her entirely. If she aids someone, there is always an ulterior motive and she will eventually collect on the favor.
